My week in picture form
...Sort of. I got my new camera (Pentax K200D) on Monday, and today the macro lens I bought (Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG) got here. I don't know what else to say about them, so here are some photos I took to test out my camera: http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s311/boneykingofnowhere/pentax_test/

And here are some slightly more thoughtful photos (but only slightly).

All of these were taken at the bike trail by the fine arts building on my college's campus.

STAY CLASSY, UMSL.

This one is kind of boring (well, they're all kind of boring), but it's still my favorite.

Oh my god it's like the same photo I am so good at this photography thing right

Well, that's all for that.

Part of a larger project I call "Spiny Joe." You can check it out at my art journal, tarquini.livejournal.com (someday I will use my Blogspot thing instead).

At Gingham's with Melissa. I love that place. It is where Ross Perotcake was born.

We hung out at her house.

Melissa's dog, Belle.

Dead Santa!

Melissa had to see this house before I went home. These people have the first house in the neighborhood next to mine, and they do this crazy shit every year for every major holiday.

Foxy Malone, my new fish. This one was actually taken with my old camera, but I don't have a better picture of him right now.

Then I got my macro lens:

I tried taking photos of my fish with it:

It's incredibly difficult to take photos of tiny moving things with a macro lens. Out of maybe 100 photos, these were the only decent ones. I'm not surprised, but it'll take some getting used to, I guess.

I've taken over 600 photos with this camera since Monday. I want to take photos of everything that exists, no matter how mundane or trivial. This is good, because things are not going so well at work, and I need new distractions. I'm done with classes for the semester, which means I can start drawing again, too (well, drawing outside of class, anyway).

The last picture is a RAINBOW of FISH STUFF.

Foxy Malone is so stripey!

We have a house in our neighborhood that goes even crazier than that at Xmas. I should go snap a picture of it. It's truly beautiful to behold!

Is that that restaurant we went to after seeing Radiohead and everyone was really tired but Rashied tried to explain physics to us anyway? I liked it there.

Those little red berry photos are so festive!! You should make Xmas cards with them.

The only fish who held still long enough to let me get any decent photos was that big fatass yellow one. His eye looks like green foil!

God, I don't know how anything could get more ridiculous than that house. There is another house in another neighborhood sort of near me that used to do the same thing, but I think it was an old couple who lived there and they don't put up decorations anymore.

Yes, Gingham's is that restaurant, haha.

yeah, everything was really pretty that day. If I do ever make Christmas cards, I'll consider using some of my photos.

Beautiful photography and very pretty fish!

When I get a new camera I hope to get back into it... Looks like you're a lot more dedicated, though =D

Thanks! I don't know if I'd say dedicated, but taking pictures of things all the time does make you a better photographer! And I really like taking pictures.

You should post your photos when you get a new camera!

I love the macro lens photos and the berry ones. You make me want to buy a really expensive camera! Also: I miss Gingham's. Have a waffle for me there next time, okay?

I like your pictures of plants! I like that they're not just Big Damn Greeting Card Flowers, they're shoots and sticks and berries and ice and shit.

How many fish are there now? I love the new guy.

They could have been Big Damn Greeting Card Flowers if there were any. There weren't, haha.

Hm, counting Rashied's fish, I think 11, and I really shouldn't have that many but some of them are little. If Rashied doesn't end up taking his fish back by the time some of these guys are fully grown, I guess they're going back to the store!

I need a macro lens like burning. I too enjoy the berries.

I almost took my macro lens back because I could not figure out how to use it, but now that I do, it's fantastic. I love taking pictures of tiny things, so it's perfect.
